The Neverfull may be the most practical bag Louis Vuitton has ever made: light, roomy, and nearly indestructible. It is also famously hard to buy new. In recent years the Neverfull has not been freely available on boutique shelves, with availability often limited to waitlists. That has made the pre-owned market the realistic way for most people to get one, and it is why the Neverfull is a constant bestseller at our shop in Fukuoka.
The Three Sizes
- Neverfull PM: the smallest, best for petite frames or light packers. Still fits daily essentials with room to spare.
- Neverfull MM: the goldilocks size and by far the most popular. It handles work files, a water bottle, and a cardigan without complaint.
- Neverfull GM: the largest, genuinely travel-capable. Many customers use it as a personal item on flights alongside a Keepall.
Canvas Options
On the secondhand market you will mainly see three versions:
- Monogram canvas: the original and most recognizable, with vachetta leather trim that develops a warm patina.
- Damier Ebene: the brown checkerboard, with dark leather trim that hides wear well. A favorite for rainy climates.
- Damier Azur: the light summery check. Beautiful, but the pale trim shows marks more easily, so inspect photos carefully.
What Vintage Neverfulls Cost
Prices vary with age, condition, and canvas, but as a broad guide, pre-owned Neverfulls generally sell for meaningfully less than the current boutique price, with well-loved older examples at the lower end and excellent-condition recent ones at the upper end. Because the bag is so popular, condition drives price more than age does. We photograph every flaw on every bag we list, so what you see is exactly what arrives.
What to Check Before Buying
- The interior canvas lining, which can get pen marks and stains from daily use.
- The top edge trim and handles, the first places vachetta wears.
- The corners of the base on bags that were set down often.
- The date code and construction details. Our team explains its process in our 7-point authentication guide.
Why Buy Yours From Japan
Japan's secondhand market is unusually well kept and tightly regulated. We source every bag through licensed dealer auctions under Japan's Kobutsusho secondhand dealer law, then run our own in-house 7-point authentication before anything is listed. Every order is covered by our full-refund authenticity guarantee, and we ship to the US in 2 to 5 days. If you are curious why Japanese-sourced bags tend to be in such good shape, we wrote about it in this article.
